The XL Kirstead Blue fits perfectly and is toasty warm without being too hot. It sheds the rain and has a bill that you can fold up, if you want. I like to leave the bill down. I love the ear coverings.

The hat definitely covers the ears which was the primary goal. It is very warm and I haven't had a chance to use it a whole lot but as supposed to be waterproof. It has a nice feature to fold the ear flaps up if you don't need them. My one complaint is that it runs small. I followed the sizing instructions but it fits fairly tight. If I was to order it again I would go up a size from medium to large and I have a pretty small head. I hope that it loosens up a bit, but we'll see. Because it was shipped from the UK to the US. It took a very long time to arrive and the shipping update information was pretty generic and unhelpful.

Very warm, especially for its bulk (not bulky). Fits true to size, windproof, water proof, good ear protection, adequate brim for sun/rain/snow protection. Just what I was looking for!
